If you're starting to pack in advance of a move, having the right packing supplies can make a big difference in the ease of the packing process. While you'll want to load up on things such as bubble wrap and packing tape, you should also make sure to get a roll of clear plastic wrap. This product shares some similarities to the plastic wrap that you might stretch over a plate of leftovers before slipping it into your fridge and is a valuable ally when you're packing up your home. If you haven't previously used this product, you'll find that it will come in handy in a number of ways. Here are some effective uses for clear plastic wrap during the packing process.

Wrapping Small Boxes Together

If you've packed up a number of small boxes with lightweight items, it can be a time-consuming process to carry these boxes in several trips from your house to the moving truck. One way to use your clear plastic wrap is to set several of the boxes in a column and then wrap them together. The static-cling nature of the plastic wrap will effectively hold the boxes together, but will still be easy to remove with a knife when you're ready to unpack them. Wrapped together as one unit, it will be easy for you to carry several boxes at once.

Securing Rugs

When you roll up a rug, you can either wrap a heavy elastic around it at each end or secure it with string. The former solution can leave the rug dented, while the latter can be time consuming. A simpler strategy is to roll the rug and then make a few passes around it with your clear plastic wrap. This product will help to hold the rug in a roll without damaging it, and you'll be able to secure the rug in this manner very quickly.

Wrapping Moving Blankets

When you're preparing to move furniture, you'll often drape them in heavy moving blankets to provide protection. During the course of moving these items, however, the blankets can easily slip off, and you may find yourself spending more time than you'd like rewrapping the furniture. A simple way to keep the moving blankets in place is to wrap them with the clear plastic wrap. You don't have to cover the entirety of the blankets; rather, a few tight passes around each blanket will press it firmly against the furniture it protects.
